The Quote Specialist is a fundamental role within the Apogee Team that is primarily focused on the daily processing and issuance of quotes and data entry. This entry-level role provides a challenging and rewarding opportunity for professional development, insurance education, networking, and introduction to a variety of different career paths for future advancement.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Data entry and creation of insurance proposals for delivery to customers
- Give great attention to detail while providing accurate insurance proposals, ensuring that all information is correct and complete
- Monitor and load daily submissions in AIM database
- Help to manage Apogee’s shared Policies email inbox
- Responsible for maintaining proper records and updated customer contracts
- Assist account managers in the processing and servicing of issued direct billed binders and policies
- Provide a high level of customer service in all customer and company interactions through verbal and written communication
- Assist with miscellaneous administrative tasks and projects, as well as reporting on results
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- This position demands an organized, self-motivated team player with the urgency, thoroughness, and time management skills to make a positive impact on our business
- Drive for self-improvement and openness to receive feedback will unlock future potential and advancement
- 1-2 years of hands-on experience in customer service or communication is preferred
- Prior insurance product knowledge and insurance education – a plus!
- Must obtain Property and Casualty Insurance License within 90 days of start date

Job Description: Our Agency Representatives are business to business salespeople focused on generating new business opportunities by sharing the Apogee story and our insurance products with independent retail agent customers. A successful teammate develops and nurtures business relationships over a variety of mediums, including: video conferencing, outbound telephone calls, and in-person visits. This sales and marketing position demands a self-driven, competitive team player with the urgency, organization and time-management skills to produce results.
Generate New Business Opportunities from independent retail insurances agencies by outbound sales activity
- Share the Apogee Story with independent retail agents, including our service promises, our specialization, speed, accessibility, and value-added service.
- Utilize sales skills to demonstrate the features and benefits of all Apogee products and services
- Ask probing questions to uncover customer pain and obstacles in regards to professional and management liability. Convert these entry-points to new business applications (asking where Apogee can fit that need)
- Follow up on previously discussed prospects to convert to new business opportunities
- Follow up on lost opportunities from prior years and convert leads to formal activity
- Drive submission and premium production to meet minimum sales activity goals – combination of submission flow, customer virtual visits, and premium/binder production
- Become well-versed in current industry-related events and market changes to drive relatable opportunities
Develop Customer Relationships:
- Work to know assigned territory and customers, building trusting relationships and Apogee believers
- Grow the Apogee brand by prospecting for new customer potential in assigned territory; identify cluster groups, agency networks, or any other customer groups and work in conjunction with other team members to formulate a plan of action
- Be a customer advocate during the insurance application/underwriting and quoting process
- Monitor production of customers to achieve goals.
- Schedule joint video conferencing customer appointments with carrier partners and in-house product experts/leadership quarterly.
- Communicate regularly with in-house account managers to enhance knowledge about submission activity and partner with in-house team to enhance the quoting process to meet the needs of the individual customer.
- Attend and engage in territory customer networking/industry events (to identify new customer prospects and convert current customer prospects to customers)
- Utilize sales software (ACT), account management software (AIM) and MS Office to manage customer relationships and update customer profiles.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred
- P&C License (must obtain within first 90 days of employment)
- Excellent verbal presentation and computer skills
- Energetic, goal-oriented, methodical, accountable, and has a positive attitude
- Multi-tasking, team player with time management and organizational skills
- Motivated and results-driven personality, with an entrepreneurial drive
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT:
- Enroll and complete formal insurance education program for both professional and personal development as outlined in individual development plan (AINS, RPLU).
- Attend regular sales training sessions to improve sales skills, technical product knowledge, and competitor information.
EXPERIENCE:
- 1-3 years of hands-on experience in customer service, communication, sales, or marketing is preferred, but recent graduates are encouraged to apply!
- Prior insurance product knowledge and insurance education – a plus!

Our Student Program focuses on setting students up for success. We have internships available in each of our offices: Wayne, PA; Oak Brook, IL; and Mission Viejo, CA. The Student Program role is fundamental in Apogee’s production of business. Our students primarily provide crucial support to our Administration Team. They will also have opportunities to assist other departments, including the account management team, marketing team, and sales team. Our college students are immersed in Apogee’s culture and develop both their professional and personal knowledge. Job Responsibilities Include:
Administration Team:
- Prepare and process daily quotes
- Develop and deliver insurance proposals to customers
- Process and deliver insurance binders and invoices to customers and subsequent prior-to-binding items
- Assist with state surplus lines reporting
Potential Additional Responsibilities Include:
Account Management Team:
- Hands-on experience managing professional liability accounts
- Communicate with agents on behalf of Apogee’s account managers to deliver quality customer service
- Assist the account management and sales team with quote follow-ups
Sales and Marketing Teams:
- Communicate with agents whose business we’ve lost, new agencies, and various developing agents
- Send Apogee’s “new customer form” for agency appointments
- Solicit new leads provide customer feedback
- Assist in various marketing projects focused on providing quality customer service and driving submissions
- Create marketing materials (hard copy and digital) to assist with various projects and initiatives
Requirements/Skills Needed:
The Student Program role demands a self-driven, competitive, team player with the urgency, thoroughness, and time-management skills to make a positive impact on our business. A drive for self-improvement and openness to receive feedback will prepare an individual for success with Apogee Insurance Group and in future endeavors.
- Enrolled in an accredited college/university
- Can work from within one of our Apogee Offices (Wayne, Oak Brook, Mission Viejo)
- Able to work a minimum of 12 hours per week, not exceeding 29 hours
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite of Applications (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Professional Oral & Written Communication Skills
- Ability to use proper time management and prioritization throughout the work day
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
